Upper Williamson River
Flows are perfect for fishing. The water is off color at Old Rocky Ford.
Dry fly fishing is excellent for brook trout near the Deep Creek confluence. Best fishing for Redband Trout is below the old Rocky Ford crossing. . The giant Hex mayfly hatch has started. Hex hatch at dark typically at 930 pm. Large yellow dry flies can work well. So far the hatch has seemed very sparse. Tie something you can see.
Sand Creek and Yamsi Ranches offer exceptional pay to fish operations.
Lower Williamson River
Flows have dropped and the river is very fishable. Redband Trout have moved in from Upper Klamath and Agency Lake as well as the Link River, Lake Ewauna and Klamath River.
The large Hex mayfly is hatching with the best areas below highway 97 and below Modoc Point Road. These are the largest mayfly in Oregon and hatch at dark. Trico mayflies are also hatching. Most flyfisherman use a clear intermediate fly line, long fluorocarbon 4-6 pound leaders and swing small bead headed flashback pheasant tails or prince nymphs. Fish are wary therfore consider going with smaller lures and flies.
Most of the catch is 8 to 14 inch Redband Trout but bigger Redband Trout ha ve moved in.
