Kaweah Lake rose to 71 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing has improved. Rising water levels stalled the wide-open bite that many of the other local lakes experienced last week, but several anglers reported good bass fishing. Spotted bass took hula grubs, drop shot, and Senkos in 5 to 25 feet of water. Bass were scattered throughout the water column. Jerkbaits and underspins were also effective for the suspended bass. Crappie were reliable for anglers suspending live minnows and minijigs under a bobber. The CDFW have a scheduled trout plant here this week.
