Castaic Lake continued a steady upward trend, sitting at 81% of capacity with water temperatures hovering in the mid-60s — perfect conditions for an active bite. Anglers reported wide-open bass action, with some saying they caught more than they could count. Largemouth Bass were holding in 2 to 20 feet of water, especially along cobblestone banks, points, and the backs of coves. The most effective presentation was a wacky-rigged Senko-style bait, particularly in baby bass, green pumpkin, and natural shad colors. Other productive finesse tactics included drop shot rigs, shaky heads, and slow-rolled Keitechs along the bottom. On windy days, the jerkbait bite fired up, putting plenty of fish in the boat. Striped Bass remained relatively quiet, but with warming temps and rising water levels, that bite is expected to turn on soon.
