Fall fishing at Diamond can be good. The water temperature should be dropping, and the fish should be on the bite. Recent reports show good numbers of large rainbows. The south end is good for catch and lease fishing of tigers and brown trout. The fish are not in the normal places, so try fishing closed to cover or weeds. Check with the lodge and the forest service for available camping. Be aware that the south ramp docks are removed in October.
Diamond Lake has been stocked with tiger and brown trout. These fish were introduced to help control illegally introduced tui chub. These trout are catch-and-release only and need to be released immediately and unharmed if caught. Follow these catch-and-release tips for reducing fish mortality.
