Kokanee are spawning along the Wallowa River feeding into Wallowa Lake. This is a great time of year to view the fish spawning at Wallowa Lake State Park. Not all kokanee spawn every year so there likely are still fresh kokanee to be caught on the lake.

Fishing for rainbow trout will probably be best near the head of the lake. Casting and retrieving nymphs or spinners can be effective. Lake Trout are infrequently caught but can be pursued by hardy anglers.
