Lake Tahoe is fishing great this week! Surface temps are 53–56°F, and calm mornings are ideal for trolling. Mackinaw (lake trout) are active at 30–60 feet, with most catches in the 3–6 lb range and some double digits. Kokanee are starting to show, and rainbows and browns are feeding more aggressively as water warms. Midges and small mayflies are hatching along shorelines early in the day. Troll with lead core or downriggers using minnow-imitating lures like the Rapala X-Rap, or jig near bottom with live or artificial minnows. Top spots include the West Shore for Mackinaw and Cave Rock for rainbows. Early mornings and late afternoons are best. Remember to check local regulations and have your fishing license.
