Lake Isabella is currently holding in the 32% range, with water temperatures running 50–55 degrees. Bass have been active in 10–25 feet of water, and the overall quality has noticeably improved over the last couple of weeks. Anglers are scoring fish on dark jigs, Senkos, deep-diving and crawdad-pattern crankbaits, swimbaits, and underspins rigged with white Keitech-style trailers. Productive areas include Engineer Point, Rocky Point, Piney Point, and the Camp 9 rocky structure, with several fish over 5 pounds reported. Trout fishing has also been solid. Shore anglers are using garlic-scented baits, spinners, Mice Tails, and worms, while boaters are finding good success trolling leadcore with Needlefish, Tasmanian Devils, and Flicker Shads around the dam. Crappie have been more scattered but can still be found. The steadiest action has come from the marina areas on small shiners, mini jigs, and Indian crickets, with the only recent French Gulch reports coming on live minnows. Catfish action remains consistent across the lake, with cut mackerel, stink baits, dough baits, and even wax worms picking up fish, especially around Piney Point.
