Fishing Conditions
With temps pushing 100 degrees in the Southwest, the Juan remains the best fishery with the coldest water for trout.
These higher flows have caused trout to spread out throughout the wade and float sections of the river. Don’t be afraid to try different spots.
Tactics may need to change (in a good way), such as fishing deeper worm/small midge rigs, throwing big dries, or hucking big streamers.
Patterns/Bug
Midges 20-26: Black Flash Midge Pupa, Tav’s Big Mac, Bling Midge, Grey and Olive Midge Pupa.
Midge Dries: Griffith Gnat 16-22, Bunny Midge 20-24.
BWO Nymphs: Foam Wing RS-2s 20-24, Juan’s Sniper Baetis 22-24, All Flavors of WD-40s #20-24.
