We are incredibly pleased to see the flows on the LT stabilize at 150 CFS over the last couple weeks. After a few months of very high water and tough fishing, this drop in flows during the height of summer fishing has been amazing. The fishing out here has been very good, with dry fly and nymph fishing nearly equal right now. For those dry fly junkies, the mid-day hatch of PMDs will be coming off on a daily basis, providing consistent action on top.
Be prepared to get your skills tested, as these PHD educated fish aren’t duped very easily. We recommend having all life stages of the pale morning duns when fishing out here, including the nymph, the emerger, the dun and the spinner.
Being that this is a tailwater, we do still see winter bugs like baetis and midges around this time of year as well. Worms should be another bug any avid LT angler keeps at hand all times of year. Light tippet and a stealthy approach are other important practices when fishing out here.
If you would like to go fishing with us please check out our website Trout Creek Outfitters.com or call (530) 563-5119.
