Fishing has been consistent and rewarding for those putting in the time. PMDs are becoming more prominent through the afternoon, with Blue-Winged Olives and caddis still key players throughout the day. Caddis activity remains sporadic, so dry fly success with them is more of a search pattern than a match-the-hatch event. That said, pupa imitations are a solid bet subsurface. Be prepared with a mix of dries—Film Critics, Purple Comparaduns, Sparkle Duns, and Rusty Spinners in PMD and BWO variations. Don’t rule out the chance of spotting a few early Green Drakes from the Canyon up to Candle Creek. Drake nymphs are a smart addition in the coming weeks as that hatch ramps up.
Bull Trout are active and on the move—big streamers in olive, white, or black can trigger some explosive eats.
