Scofield Reservoir - Scofield, UT

Lake Information
Fish Species: | Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout, Wiper, Tiger Trout, Tiger Muskellunge |
Scofield Reservoir is a 1,900-acre powerhouse fishery offering trophy opportunities for kokanee, lake trout, brown trout, and splake. From ice-off in spring to the late fall freeze, anglers pursue multiple species in productive habitats.
Kokanee rush the feeder arms in April–May—troll dodgers and hoochies at 40–60 feet. Brown trout from the Provo River press shallow in spring near inflows; classic spoons, spinners, or streamers work well.
Lake trout and splake chase deep water. Downriggers, lead-core lines, and deep spoons around 60–100 feet produce big fish. Worm harnesses also tempt deep fin-rushers. Brown trout are either caught along structure or during snake adjustments.
The reservoir has shore access, multiple marinas, campgrounds, and launches. Wind can be a factor after morning, so plan accordingly. In winter, ice fishing remains solid—kite fishing and shelters target slorm corridors.
Species-specific regulations apply: kokanee limits are restrictive, splake tags are needed, and trout often fall under catch-and-release or slot rules. Consult the DWR guide before launching.
For anglers seeking trophy fish with variety and year-round opportunity in a beautiful high‑mountain setting, Scofield Reservoir is among Utah’s elite fisheries
