Water levels and water quality unfortunately remain poor at Fool Hollow Lake. In addition, both boat ramps remain closed at this time. However, even given these conditions, fishing, particularly for Channel Catfish, remains quite good. Anglers are encouraged to target warmwater sportfish at the lake, and the Arizona Game and Fish Department is recommending harvesting fish at this time because there is a chance that the lake experiences a fish kill if water levels continue to fall. Channel Catfish numbers are high at Fool Hollow with anglers doing well on chicken livers, worms or other smelly baits. For other warmwater and cool-water sportfish, anglers should cast baits near the shoreline or use shallow running baits that target the shallow water. Anglers should time their fishing trips at dawn and dusk when targeting bass, panfish and Walleye. The bite window can be particularly short for these species, but quality-sized fish can still be found

Fishing early in the day is recommended as water temperatures are still approaching stressful levels, which is resulting in lower feeding activity and fish seeking deeper water for refuge. Fishing should pick up as water temperatures start to cool this fall. ...... Read More
