Fall River has been fishing well, and with the final stocking of the year now in the rearview, there are plenty of fish spread throughout the system. Expect a mix of fresh plants and those more educated holdovers that have been in there for a while. Clear water and cooler temps mean stealth matters — long leaders, soft presentations, and smaller bugs will get you the most consistent results. Nymphing has been the bread and butter with small midges, eggs, perdigons, and two-bit style patterns doing the heavy lifting. Swinging or stripping small leeches in the deeper slots has also been producing, especially early and late. Dry fly opportunities are still around in shorter windows; midges and the occasional BWO trickle keep fish looking up when conditions line up. Overall, the river is in great shape for late fall, pressure is a little lighter than peak season, and this last round of fish should keep things fun heading into winter.
