There is plenty of public access on the Necanicum off Hwy. 101 and Hwy. 26. This small stream has resident and sea-run coastal cutthroat trout throughout the fishery and has a lot of downed wood which trout love to use as cover. The Necanicum is very low, but concentrate on deep pools with cover, and you should find success.
Fall Chinook fishing has been very slow in the Necanicum. Hopefully the rains late this week will bring in some fish. The bag limit for wild adult Chinook is 1 per day and 2 per season as part of the daily salmon and steelhead bag limit. See the regulation updates online for more details. There is no retention of wild coho allowed in the Necanicum River.
The Highway 101 boat ramp south of Seaside has the combination lock back on it. Anglers can call the Tillamook office at (503) 842-2741 and provide their Hunter/Angler ID number to receive the combo.
