Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish this week! This is last catfish stocking for the season bringing the total stock this season to 8,500 pounds. Lake hours will change on Halloween with fall back. Stay tuned for information regarding trout season which starts next month!

What’s the Catch? Catfish fishermen are still finding success around the lake, especially during the cooler mornings and evenings. The best action has been reported near Half Moon Cove, Siesta Point, and the T-dock area. Most catches are coming on mackerel, chicken liver, or shrimp, fished close to the bottom.

The bite has been steady with fish averaging 2 to 5 pounds and a few larger ones being pulled from deeper water. Slip sinker rigs or Carolina rigs are seeing the most consistent results.

As water temperatures continue to drop, catfish are becoming more active throughout the day, so don’t hesitate to cast out midday! For those fishing from shore, nightcrawlers and stink baits have also been productive near the campground shoreline this week.

Conditions: The current water temperature is 77 degrees. The aerator has been turned off for the season. The days are getting shorter with the sun rising at 6:59 a.m. and setting at 6:06 p.m. The next new moon is October 21st.
