Be sure to sign up for the Ambush at the Lake Derby before casting a line! Once signed up, catch a fish of at least 14 inches and enter into a drawing to win resort prizes. Fish must be brought to the General Store the day they are caught to qualify.

As a bonus, if you catch a tagged fish between October 24th – 26th, you’ll have a chance to win cash! Fish must be brought to the General Store with the tag intact to redeem your prize.

Fall fishing has been FIN-tastic! Garlic PowerBait, nightcrawlers, lures, and flies have been successful for reeling in the lunkers. Anglers have been walking away with catches ranging from 2 lbs to 12.25 lbs!

Keep in mind, fish are cold-blooded. Midday to late afternoon is often the best time to catch. Trout will stay closer to the surface until the water gets too warm and at that point, they will retreat to deeper, cooler water.

Also, MATCH THE HATCH!  Matching your flies and lures to the insects in the fall will increase your  chances of fooling trout. Moving lures and flies are easier for trout to detect.  Eggs are also an effective bait for trout during the fall spawning  season. Oxygen levels are lower in early fall, so focus on areas with the  strongest current to find the most active trout, such as the inlet.

Anglers have been successful from the shore and boat.

You can rent boats from us until November 15th!

LET’S GO BOATING!

The fall colors are holding on pretty well despite the altering weather. Come up to experience it while it lasts!

Crispy mornings followed by warm afternoons and chilly evenings provide the perfect time to be in the Eastern Sierra!
