Fishing should be slow from a boat. Catching rainbow trout from shore is more challenging. Trolling smalls spoons is your best bet. Rainbow will typically hold at 15 feet near the thermocline when water temperatures are warm.
For recent fishing updates call the Lake of the Woods resort at 1-866-201-4194 (option 4).
The lake is dominated by stunted yellow perch. Very small bait and hooks will catch these fish. Fishing for brown bullhead should be very good with a worm on the bottom especially at night.
Largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing should remain good. Best fishing for largemouth is along the lily pads on the north east side of the lake. The crappie fishery has really taken off here.
