Smooth sailing now. We're just getting over the last heat wave on the Truckee River. 70's all next week, not bad. Soon we'll have some Fall fishing.

For now think smaller size crayfish, smaller mayflies, and caddis. Trouts are still in faster water-so fish the appropriate rigs. Tight line nymphing/ Euro, will be your best bet.

Around 500 cfs here in Hirschdale. Not a bad flow for late August. The reservoirs all still have lots of water in them, so we should be good to go all through Fall.

It's the mellow time up here now. Good time to go fishing.

Hot in Reno, but it could be way hotter.  Nice and cool in the mornings, (that's when you want to be out anyway) Warm in the afternoons.  Flows have dropped to about 525 cfs, here in Hirschdale- 400 cfs at Mogul on the NV side through Reno. That's right at average for August.  Now, you should look for mid-river...... Read More
