Del Valle Lake Fishing Report

Del Valle Lake - Livermore, CA (Alameda County)

Paul Clouse and Al Hurwitz trolled Lake Del Valle on 7/24/25, searching for various species of Bass. In spite of near perfect conditions (excellent weather, wind conditions, water temperature and clarity), the bite was slow. We managed to get five bites and caught two Smallmouth Bass and one Largemouth Bass. One of the Smallies is pictured below. We used lead-core line attached to fluorocarbon leader in order to get the lures to proper depth. In this case, 1/4 oz feathered in-line spinners were trolled 16-18 feet below the surface in 20-25 foot water columns. Trolling speed was 2.0-2.3 mph. Scent was applied to the spinners. All the fish were caught along the shoreline and a small cove of Swallow Bay, and all were released.

The lake remains at near peak level, has excellent water clarity, with a surface temperature ranging from 73.5 to 77 degrees.

We will be back next week for another round with the Bass!
