Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of July 7th! We’re stocking another 1,000 pounds of catfish the weeks of July 28th and August 18th, so plan visits around those dates to take advantage of fresh fish.

What’s the Catch? Catfish are biting and panfish are plentiful! Fishermen are reporting success from boats and along the shoreline near Sentry Point, Siesta Cove, and Half Moon Cove. The most effective baits for catfish have been mackerel, shrimp, and chicken liver. Try scenting your bait with garlic. Fish are averaging 2–4 lbs, with a few larger ones tipping the scales over 6 lbs. Evening hours after 6 p.m. and cooler stretches of the day are your best bet.

Panfish action has been solid near the docks. Look for them in shallow, shaded coves during the morning and late afternoon. Mealworms and pieces of red worms have all been producing bites.

Conditions: The current water temperature is 80 degrees at the surface. The aerator has been turned on, so the dissolved oxygen content is well mixed. The sun is rising at 5:53 a.m. and setting at 7:56 p.m. The next new moon is July 24th, so it’ll be nice and dark for night fishing Friday, July 25th.
