Water temperatures are at 62F.  A total of 10,335 rainbow trout were stocked this spring averaging 9.6 inches.  A total of 8,532 brown trout, averaging 9.9 inches were also stocked this spring. Despite warmer water temperatures, trout fishing is still productive, with recent catch rates of 3 fish per hour on rainbow trout.  Several brown trout and tiger trout have been caught averaging 15 inches. Fish are hitting PowerBait, spinners, nightcrawlers, and wetflies behind a bubble.

Largemouth bass fishing is consistent with 11-13 inch bass being caught.  Bass have been hitting on a variety of soft plastics and spinning baits, have a variety of colors ready to maximize success.  Anglers looking to pursue northern pike should use flashy lures, RatL traps, and lures that resemble trout, bass, and bluegill should do well.

There is a limited Bluegill fishery at Comins Lake, and anglers are encouraged to release Bluegill to better establish their population.

Northern pike are moving throughout the lake and can be found in the deeper water and along the bullrush in the north lake and spread across the south lake.  Anglers that are using flashy lures, RatL traps, and lures that resemble trout, bass, and bluegill should do well. Please note that NDOW has placed radio tags in several Northern Pike. Any pike over 24 inches in length that have transmitters can be removed from the lake. These pike will have an orange floy tag near their dorsal fin and a small antenna (~ 7 inches long) coming from their stomach.  Please return these fish to the water for research purposes.
