Fishing has been fair to good with a good number of hatchery chinooks being harvested. The river is running below normal water levels; boat operators should be aware. Also the moss is starting to appear which affects how long one's lure is working properly. With low forecasted returns, the main Umpqua will be closed to all harvest of wild spring Chinook. Only fin-clipped Chinook may be harvested. Anglers are catching good numbers of shad throughout the main Umpqua.
We have received a few good report of striper bass being caught in the lower sections.
Only hatchery steelhead may be harvested.
