Paul Clouse and Al Hurwitz trolled Los Vaqueros Reservoir on June 5, 2025. We had a slow start, having no bites in East Cove and Howden Cove. Then around 11:45 AM, while fishing in Cox Cove, the fish really started hitting. We ended up hooking up with around 10-11 fish over a short span including 5 Mt. Lassen Trout, ranging in weight from 1.5-3.5 pounds, as well as  nice Striped Bass. Pictured are the Striped Bass and two of the nicer sized Trout. We also caught a small Largemouth Bass in Cox Cove. We kept 4 of the Trout and released the rest of the fish.

We are having excellent success trolling a Mickey Finn Streamer Fly 10 feet below the surface, with scent applied. The fish have literally been “crushing” it! The lake conditions are perfect for trolling, with the lake level high, water clarity excellent, and water surface temperatures in the mid to upper 60’s.

Hope to be back soon.
All the best,
Paul Clouse, Lafayette
Dr. Al Hurwitz, Saratoga
