Flows are currently single-peaking, ranging from 800 cfs to 2200 cfs as of late April. River temperature near the dam has ranged between 39-41 degrees recently. Angling pressure has been moderate this time of year both for boats and shore anglers with the expectation of drawing crowds as our weather warms. Expect recreational pressure to increase as we advance into May and June. Streamers have been productive in white, black, natural, or ginger colors depending on lighting and day. The blue wing olive mayfly hatch is in full swing. Nymph presentations are still most common this time of year and often will catch higher numbers of fish. Egg patterns might yield a fish or two from spring spawn rainbows. Rainbow or brown trout patterned crankbaits, spinners and spoons can work well too. Please pinch down the barbs for a quick release, use good fish handling techniques, and avoid wading in trout spawning redds, characterized by light colored (cleaned-looking) cobble rock. As we get closer to late June, expect a potential for increased dry fly hatches on warm calm days for menu items such as yellow sallies/stoneflies, duns, and later in June or early July anticipate cicada and mormon cricket/terrestrial hatches to start. Beware of high water events in late May and mid-late June to meet other programs' water obligations for the Green River. Until then expect our current water release pattern to continue due to our ongoing drought conditions.
