Stocking: You thought trout season was over? DFW brought us another 500 pounds this week! The last stocking from Idaho was added to the lake the week of April 14th. Between Wright’s Rainbows and DFW, 23,000 pounds of trout have been stocked this season! Catfish Opener is set for May 23rd.
What’s the Catch? Water temps are still ideal for trout and they keep on biting. Reports were that they were schooling by the buoy lines last weekend. Nightcrawlers, Powerbait and red/gold Buoyants were reeling them in. BIG bass were reeled in over spring break. We’re talking 9+ pounds on swimbaits. Check Half Moon Cove for Redear and Bluegill. They prefer to hide in the vegetation along the shore. Pieces of nightcrawler and meal worms will coax a bite. No reports of catfish over the break, but join us Saturday night for New Moon Fishing!
Conditions: The current water temperature is 63 degrees. Water temps are starting to rise, but remain consistent throughout the water column. The aerator has been turned on, so the dissolved oxygen content is well mixed. The days are getting longer with the sun rising at 6:09 a.m. and setting at 7:24 p.m.
